The 2022 Tournoi de France will be the third edition of the tournament, it is an invitational women’s football tournament held annually in France and this year takes place from 16th to 22nd February. Joining Finland and hosts France this year are Brazil and the Netherlands. A serial winner, who has five Veikkausliiga titles, including three League & Cup doubles 🙌🏼 Rasmus is tough tackling, smooth passing, no nonsense, central midfielder currently with Djurgårdens IF in Stockholm.

Rade tells us how it felt to start in the Veikkausliiga, for Honka at the age of 18, the challenge of making the step-up to HJK Helsinki, his MLS adventure in Minnesota. He also shares some VERY interesting insights into the ill-fated Hans Backe era of the Finland national team and why Markku Kanerva has enjoyed such success in the Nations League and Euro 2020.

Match Report: Sweden 2-1 Finland, Women’s World Cup Qualifier

Playing away against the old enemy is never easy, but when your closest rival is also ranked number 2 in the world, you know you’re in for a battle. That is what Finland faced but they also made sure they went down fighting against Sweden; standing toe-to-toe and attempting to play their own game. The other result in the group, Ireland 1-1 Slovakia, leaves the standings wide open at the halfway stage.

Match Report: Finland 1-2 Ireland, Women’s World Cup Qualifier

Back on home soil, the Helmarit struggled to break down a resolute Ireland side that got players behind the ball to defend, while making the most of counter-attacking on the break. A fine goal-of-the-match from Adelina Engman, was not enough against a good direct free kick and a close-range header for Ireland. Match Report: Georgia 0-2 Finland, Women’s World Cup Qualifier

On a football pitch that resembled a ploughed field, the Helmarit put on an assured, commanding performance to take a comfortable 3-0 World Cup Qualifier victory back home from Tbilisi, Georgia.

Goals from Linda Sällström, Sanni Franssi and, a penalty from, Emmi Alanen ensured that Finland sit in joint top place in group A, with local rivals Sweden. [Podcast] In Conversation with… Robert Taylor

In this episode, Keke, Rich and Mark H are joined by another Huuhkajat star, Robert Taylor, who talks them through his career. It’s an inspirational story! Having been told he wasn’t good enough for the Northern Counties league in England, his determination to succeed eventually drove him to score for the Finland national team and travel to Euro 2020.

Robert gives us his perspective on that surreal night at the Parken Stadium in Copenhagen, and reflects on the Chrsitian Eriksen situation, and also gives a little insight into the off-field scandal at SK Brann in August 2021.

Danish journalist, Michael Christiansen, reached out to the FFS team asking for the Finnish perspective on the incident when Christian Eriksen collapsed during the Denmark-Finland game.
