Markku Kanerva has named a 22 man squad that will be looking to conclude the decisive matches in Euro Qualifying Group J.
There is good news for Thomas Lam who returns to the squad for having spent the best part of six months on the sidelines with a metatarsal fracture. He has already played for club side PEC Zwolle at centre-back in a 4-2 defeat to Ajax. Robert Taylor also returns to the fold, after some decent performances in the Norwegian league.
With a space or two still open, there is no sign yet of Lasse Lappalainen, Rasmus Karjalainen or Ben Källman who usually provide the additional attacking option. One reason for this could be the emergence of Onni Valakari who’s started playing and scoring at Tromso and Marcus Forss, now at Wimbledon who’s scored 7 in his last 9 games in League One.
Kanerva usually likes to go with a 23 man squad, though one consideration is that Paulus Arajuuri has not played since limping off against Bosnia Herzegovina, though called up, it may be a tough ask for him to be fit in time.
