In episode 13, we started by looking at some recent news:
- Mark H – Joel Pohjanpalo’s current situation at Leverkusen, where he’s not playing much at the moment. Plus Jere Uronen at Genk who is playing regularly in the Belgian league and Europa League.
- Rich – The possibility of a joint-Nordic bid to host Euro 2024. Leading to a general discussion about how to host enlarged international competitions.
- Producer Mark – Pre-season weakening of SJK. Most recently:
- Roope Riski’s loan to Paderborn in Budesliga 2
- Juhani Ojala’s transfer to BK Häcken in Allsvenskan
- Matej Hradecky’s injury

Simo Valakari Leaving SJK
- Comparing the styles of Simo vs new manager Sixten Boström.
- The need for SJK to strengthen, especially in light of HJK’s reinforcements.
New Format for Suomen Cup
- Group A – shout out to KPV from Kokkola, now with 4 wins out of 4, playing AC Oulu and OPS next, both winnable games. RoPS and Kemi both pushing for 2nd & 3rd.
- Group B – SJK, Jaro and VPS all on 9 points with one game to go. SJK vs VPS, Jaro vs Jazz.
- Apologies for Rich’s terrible pun ‘The only way is up for Yazz‘ (FC Jazz)
- Group C – HJK 12 pts and Honka on 9. Well ahead of the pack.
- Stadin Derby (Helsinki) HJK vs HIFK will now be played outdoors at Sonera Stadion rather than indoors – which may have been ‘a bit tasty!’
- Group D – Inter and Mariehamn both on 10. Well ahead of the pack.
- Group E – KuPS and Ilves both on 12. Well ahead of the pack. Lahti at the bottom on 1 point!
